Join Coney Island USA as we invade Manhattan at the oldest nightclub of New York, Webster Hall, and celebrate the Coney Island USA Spring Gala. The Spring Gala is the premiere fundraising event for Coney Island USA. This benefit draws a host of celebrities, trendsetters, and superstars of the Burlesque and Sideshow movement. The 2013 Spring Gala is The Burlesque Manifesto and will honor the role Coney Island USA played in beginning the neo-burlesque movement that is now a global sensation. The Burlesque Manifesto is an article written by Coney Island USA Founder and Executive Artistic Director Dick Zigun some 30 years ago. It is widely considered the beginning of the massive burlesque renaissance.

This year’s gala event will feature a dazzling display of daring feats executed by the cast of Sideshows by the Seashore, some of New York’s most talented and titillating burlesque performers, a glorious gamut of go go gals and guys, as well as special musical guests for your auditory pleasure. And be on the lookout for all kinds of surprises!

Baile Funk is built on BATIDA beats from the tamborzao, DJ’s, MC’s and DANCARINAS dancers. The tamborzao lays down the bass, a familiar yet raunchy beat which always stays the same but changes annually depending on how the popular DJ of that year chops and mixes the record, while the Live MPC DJ uses samples and audio clips to create original beats that the MC can rhyme to.

Baile Funk Mash-ups are popping up across multiple genres of music. The sights and sounds of Brazilian Baile Funk, originating from the Baile and the tamborzao itself, are being heard in hip-hop and electronic music spreading quickly to the eyes and ears of tastemakers, festival attendees & a pan national group of music lovers ranging from 13-50 years old.

Born in Moldova, Alexandr Leu started Djing when he was 16 going on to become a local resident in his hometown of Chisinau at clubs Star Track, Studio, Equator, Casanova, Gothik and appearing as a guest preformer at Dance Planet, 50/50, Booz Time, People, Dom Michelle and City.

Later Alexandr Leu moved to and performed in Virginia Beach at Central 111 and Time while occasionally guest appearing at Slavia and One Loung in Washington D.C.

Mister Leu spins an eclectic blend of danceable sounds with captivating grooves and memorable vocals. The perfect edition for Fashion Shows, Corporate Presentations and Special Events, Mister Leu can also be found enchanting listeners in trendy nightspots around New York City.

The key factors in Mike Pearl’s performances remain the same, unbeatable tune selection, superb mixing skills, and an immeasurable feel for the crowd. Currently Mike Pearl’s forte is House Music of the highest quality; whether it’s Progressive, Electro, or Tech House with alluring vocals, he will play it all!

Mike Pearl’s featured projects include remixes for Sequential Z from The UK, working with acclaimed singer Javier Bernard on “God is Watching Me”, released on Quimika Records and Beatport in 2008. In addition, he made a number of remixes on “This World is Watching Me” by Armin van Buuren, and a remix for Brainbug. Mike Pearl’s remix of Sequential Z, “Southern Smooth Groove” has reached the Top 10 on soundclick.com’s electro chart and has remained on the top ten singles for a number of weeks. The release of his single, “God is Watching Me”, was featured in Quimika Records Top 10 charts on progressivehouse.com, and was supported by Flash Brothers from Israel.

Krack&Bluez is more than music. The name Krack&Bluez refers to this new genre of music itself. Two cousins, Justin “Just” James, and Naeem “Legacy” Bryan created the group in 2005. The misconceptions that many of us have are that people “run out of luck” or that some of us are luckier than others. The phrase that the acronym stands for gives the opposition to these traditional definitions. Lipmo embodies the idea that every individual has control of his/her own destiny. Luck is a mono-syllabic utter which is heard when speaking of the greats whether positively or in attempts to demean achievements. This Oft-used word can be easily substituted by other words. For example the word “success” fits in very well. Basically, preparation aka hard work and planning mixed with an open window of opportunity can bring you success beyond your wildest dreams. Achieved success would not want to be downplayed by being called luck. So, for all that use the word luck; expand your vocabulary in accordance with the Lipmo dictionary and when you say luck think success, achievement, and entrepreneurship!”
